Workshop comprises: 1 full day face to face delivery (client site) or 2 half day sessions (virtual delivery). Workshop Overview It is widely expected by Entry talent employees that they will be managed, which is quite rightly a correct assumption. However, they can be oblivious to the notion that Managing Upwards is also a key skill required for all employees as it promotes confidence, Emotional Intelligence and communication skills to name but a few. Introducing your entry talent to the concept of Managing Up along with the strategies and tools to effectively and confidently Manage upwards, you are enabling them to not only understand hierarchical structures but how they feed into them by supporting their line manager and stretching themselves. The workshop examines the purpose of manging up and reviews the 3 main challenges faced and how to overcome them. We undertake practical exercises to fully appreciate the benefits of successfully manging upwards as well as the consequences when not undertaken. We explore varying managing styles, how to identify managing styles and how to adapt whilst being true to their values. Following completion of this workshop they will have: An understanding the concept of managing up. An awareness of varying management styles and how to adapt to each. Knowledge of their own impact style and how to utilise it effectively when managing upwards. Developed a Managing Up framework to support successful adoption. Created a personalised Manage Up matrix, identifying individual behavioural practices and how to maximise/minimalize utilisation based upon manager's management style. A through comprehension of boundaries, self-care and well-being.
